More convenience with Shared Branching

More than 1,800 institutions now participate in CO-OP Shared Branching, representing thousands of locations in 50 states.

CO-OP Shared Branching provides:

  • Over 5,000 nationwide branch locations and over 2,200 kiosks near your work, home, shopping and travel destinations.
  • Ability to make deposits, withdrawals, transfers, account inquiries and other transactions as if you were at a U1 location.
  • Access to accounts even when you move, go on a vacation or you're out of town in an emergency.
  • The convenience that makes you feel U1 is doing everything 'Beyond what you Expect'!

Securely verify your identity for Shared Branching transactions with IDCheck:

U1 understands it's crucial to help protect you from account takeover fraud. That’s why we are introducing a new ID proofing measure for in-person visits to our location and/or our Shared Branch locations.

This new IDCheck product enables Participating Credit Unions to more effectively validate the identity of guest members during Shared Branching transactions while minimizing the risk of potential fraud.

Effective May 1, 2025, Shared Branching users will be required to preload their state-issued driver’s ID into this application before visiting a Participating Shared Branch location.

This does not apply to U1 members visiting U1 locations – you will be able to conduct business at our locations as you always do.

If you are a visiting Credit Union Shared Branching participant or a U1 Shared Branching user planning to visit other Credit Unions within the Network, please follow the instructions below to prepare before May 1, 2025, to ensure a smooth experience when conducting your U1 transactions at other Credit Union branches.

HERE IS WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM THE NEW IDCHECK:
When you arrive at the branch, or before, you will be asked to scan a QR code with your mobile device and follow the instructions on the screen to get a member verification code.

How it Works:

  1. Scan the QR code located in the branch or visit verify.coop.org.
  2. Select your credit union’s name from a drop-down list.
  3. Enter your member number and the last four digits of your social security number.
  4. Upload a photo of your ID. Your ID is stored so this can be re-used next time instead of taking a new photo every time.
  5. Take a selfie. Your selfie is stored so this can be reused instead of taking a new photo every time.

Tip: Save your validation for an even quicker experience next time!

  1. Show your one-time passcode to the teller (passcode is valid for 20 minutes).
If you are not able to get a verification code this does not mean your transaction can not be performed. The teller may be able to verify you by means other than the New IDCheck.

Using an Alternative Verification Method
If you are unable to use the app or have a non-Ohio ID, our team will complete the standard in-branch verification process. Please note:

  • You will be limited to a maximum of $200 per day for cash or check withdrawals when using this alternative method.

For faster service and access to full withdrawal limits, we encourage using the IDCheck app when possible.
